Confessions of a Former Monkey Mind Doctor

In a combination of stage performance and scientific presentation, Daniel Povinelli will reflect upon his experiences in chimpanzee cognition research

Daniel Povinelli is Professor at the Ecology Center of the University of Louisiana Lafayette. He is best known for his research on Theory of Mind in Chimpanzees. His second passion is the theater; in the last years, he has reduced his scientific work to be able to devote his time to acting.

The Leibniz ScienceCampus Primate Cognition could win Daniel Povinelli to visit Göttingen and perform his show "Confessions of a Former Monkey Mind Doctor"; in this combination of stage performance and scientific presentation, he will reflect upon his experiences in cognition research.

In this play, Daniel Povinelli is Doctor Fomomindo, an aging American ape psychologist, who has been invited to Germany to deliver the final lecture of his career. To everyone’s surprise, he shows up with his trained chimpanzee... What could possibly go wrong?

"Confessions of a Former Monkey Mind Doctor" will be performed on July 7th, 2016 at 4 p.m. in the Lecture Hall of the German Primate Center. The admission is free.
